Recessions are a part and parcel to every sector whether be the internet, Bollywood or entertainment industry. 2012 has been a blockbuster year and there have been a huge investment that has been done by the producers. The first seven months have been quite good at the box office as there have been a few big releases and now the trend has begun where in speculations are done in order to suspect if a film shall do good at box office and go beyond the rupees 100 Crore mark or not?
This year there are a couple of big releases being awaited at the box office like Salman Khan’s Dabangg-2 or Ajay Devgan’s Son of Sardar to name a few! However now the trend has begun where in definite comparisons and competition is done with the already successful releases such as Amir Khan’s 3Idiots or Ghajini who were among the first movies to have breached the record and created a new landmark! The year has started on a high note with Agneepath soaring up high to new records followed by back to back announcements such asHousefull-2 or Rowdy Rathore and Bol Bachan.
With several high budget Hindi releases lined up across the year, 2012is expected to sustain the growth momentum witnessed in 2011, say the analysts.Even a light comedy like Balaji’s Kya Super Kool Hain Hum has grossed Rs.26 crore in three days, thanks to a wide release. The box-office is a key part of the revenue stream for films and though the collections have grown,theatricals contribute 50 per cent to revenues of a film, the rest coming from satellite, overseas, music and digital rights.
